Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis will not be visiting Washington, the government spokesperson, Pavlos Marinakis informed the press during a briefing on Thursday in Athens.
He explained that the Greek Premier would not meet with U.S President Joe Biden at the White where an event celebrating March 25 Greek Independence Day would not take place as the two leaders had clashing schedules.
In response to a question about the proposal by opposition parties for establishing a special preliminary parliamentary committee to investigate the Tempi train crash, the spokesperson dubbed it “irresponsible” and an attempt to exploit a tragedy.
He added that the opposition had, so far, avoided presenting a specific indictment, as they would be compelled to officially specify the “unsubstantiated claims” they have been making for months.
Finally, the government spokesperson accused SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis of undermining the constitution, in response to the latter’s suggestion for international observers in the Greek electoral process.
