First Post-Summer Cabinet Meeting Wednesday Morning

Ministers will convene with several key issues on the agenda

The first post-summer break cabinet meeting is set to be held under Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 11 am on Wednesday at the Maximos Mansion.
Ministers will convene with several key issues on the agenda. Specifically:
Alternate Minister of National Economy and Finance of Greece Nikos Papathanasis will provide an update on the progress of initiatives under the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis and Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos will present a new bill focused on encouraging business innovation and mergers.

The Development Minister will also outline legislative initiatives on sustainability reporting.

Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisochoidis will present a bill aimed at reorganizing the Greek Police and upgrading the Police Academy, while Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis will discuss legislation on domestic violence.

Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou will introduce a bill on strengthening cybersecurity.

Finally, Finance Minister Hatzidakis and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras will also bring forth issues regarding the Attica Tollway.

The cabinet meeting comes at a period of high-stakes for the incumbent Administration. A recent article from TO VIMA predicted that Prime Minister Mitsotakis will face several “storm fronts” this autumn, including: the country’s failing national health system, deepening cracks in the country’s economic situation, problems within the New Democracy party, and possibly a stronger political opposition.
