Greek authorities have started dispatching the special envelopes to voters registered on the interior ministry’s platform to cast their vote in the European elections via postal ballots.
Many voters have already received a relevant SMS message providing the instructions they must follow:
How many will vote by postal ballot?
According to a post by Interior Minister Niki Kerameus, the total number of citizens registered has reached 202,556, with the majority of them within the country’s borders. Specifically, 153,322 are from within the country, and 49,234 are from abroad.
Greek expatriates will vote from 128 countries, with the majority coming from Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Specifically, the highest number of registrations were recorded in Germany (9,578), the United Kingdom (9,090), the United States (3,857), Belgium (3,491), the Netherlands (3,119), and Cyprus (2,808).
What will the postal ballot paper look like?
On the first page, the postal ballot paper includes the parties, coalitions, and all party alliances. The voters will place a cross corresponding to the party of their choice. They will then select their preferred MEP candidate on the second page by selecting the corresponding number.
How does the voter cast their vote?
The voter fills out the application/affidavit and writes their details on the return envelope for postal voting. They have a photocopy of their ID card Greek passport or Greek driver’s license ready. They then select the coalition and the MEP candidates of their choice. Next, they seal the ballot paper in the special voting envelope. Next, they place the voting envelope, the application- affidavit, and the proof of ID inside the return envelope and seal it. They send the envelope to the pre-filled address.
