The Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, was attacked in the streets of Copenhagen on Friday and a man has been arrested in connection with the assault.
According to reports at Reuters, the PM is in satisfactory condition with no outward signs of harm, although she is in “shock” following the attack, according to statement by her office.
A man has been arrested in connection with the assault and police are investigating the matter, added Reuters.
The motivation of the attack is unclear, but it notably comes just two days before Danish citizens head to the polls of EU elections and is also less than a month after the Prime Minister of Slovakia survived an assassination attempt.
As a result of the attack and general security concerns, the Prime Minister cancelled the rest of her public events ahead of the elections.
