As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate following two assassinations in Beirut and Tehran last week blamed on Israel, and in the wake of Iranian pledge for “severe” retaliation, Greece’s foreign ministry over the weekend called on Greek citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon.
The ministry announced that it has activated an emergency hotline at 210 3681017 (to provide consular assistance to Greek citizens affected by the situation in Lebanon.
The situation has further intensified with Hezbollah’s missile launches towards Israel on Saturday. In response, many countries are urging their citizens to leave Lebanon “by any means” available.
In its announcement, the ministry emphasized that its advice to avoid traveling to Lebanon and to leave the country immediately remains in effect.
Additionally, Aegean Airlines announced the suspension of all flights to and from Tel Aviv (until Aug. 6) and Beirut (until Aug. 8) due to the volatile situation in the region.
