Incumbent PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis claimed victory for the second consecutive time on Sunday evening, securing the first place in Greece’s social-democratic party elections. With 99.25% of the votes counted, Androulakis has received 59,94%, while his main opponent, Athens Mayor Haris Doukas trails with 40.06%.

Doukas has already reached out to congratulate Androulakis on his victory in a phone call. He also stressed that  “I want to sincerely thank all the members and friends of PASOK who supported me in these two electoral battles. I also want to congratulate Nikos Androulakis on his victory.”

A total of 212.269 voters participated in this round, a notable decrease from the previous Sunday’s unexpectedly large turnout of over 300,000 party members and supporters.

In the first round, Androulakis received 29.99% of the votes, while Doukas garnered 21.42%. Both candidates advanced to the second round after a competitive race against other PASOK leadership candidates, including Pavlos Geroulanos, Anna Diamantopoulou, Michalis Katrinis, and Nadia Giannakopoulou.
