Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis received the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I, at his Maximos Mansion office in Athens on Monday morning, during the latter’s visit to the Greek capital for a theological conference, which commenced last evening.
SYRIZA’s newly elected president, Socrates Famellos, declared that the party remains strong and united despite recent turmoil. “SYRIZA is here and it is standing,” said Famellos in his victory speech. In his first remarks after the leadership election, Famellos highlighted the high voter turnout and new memberships as evidence of SYRIZA’s resilience and a collective desire to “press the reset button.” He described the day as one of joy tempered by the heavy responsibility of rebuilding the party.

In the latest survey by pollsters GPO about the Greek political scene, the ruling conservative party of New Democracy (ND) continued to record poor numbers, with the margin from second-placed social PASOK consolidating below double digits.
