Reuters reports that Greece is in talks with Israel to develop an anti-aircraft and missile defense dome (similar to the Israeli Iron Dome), citing sources from the Greek defense ministry. “The plan is to create a multi-layer anti-aircraft and anti-drone system,” according to a source knowledgeable with the issue, Reuters noted. “We are in discussions with Israel,” the source said. A second official confirmed the scale of the potential deal, adding that Greece needs to spend 12.8 billion euros by 2035 to upgrade its armed forces.
Bank of America (BofA) reports Greek banks are becoming more appealing as the volume of loans is expanding, with the Greek banking sector posting stronger yields and lower valuations. In its analysis, BofA highlights that while the net interest income (NII) in the Greek banking sector is facing pressure, the annual 7-10% uptick in loans constitutes a convincing distinction vis-à-vis the mild credit growth in Europe.
The number of active internet users in Greece is increasing exponentially, according to a recent study by market research company Focus Bari, with older age groups emerging as those with the highest engagement. Regional areas have experienced the greatest increase, at +13% since 2019. Those between the ages of 65 and 74 have shown a high rate of digital engagement, with daily usage over the past five years increasing by 61%.
The Hellenic National Intelligence Service (EYP) has released declassified intelligence bulletins related to the tragic events of July and August 1974 in Cyprus. These documents, previously classified as top-secret, were made public on Wednesday, November 13.
