Vardis I. Vardinogiannis one of Greece’s most prominent business figures has passed away at the age of 91. The Vardinogiannis family released a statement on Tuesday, Nov. 12 expressing their grief: “With profound sadness, the family of Vardis I. Vardinogiannis announces that our beloved father and grandfather passed away today.”


The Port of Piraeus, Greece’s largest, was named “Ferry Shipping Port of the Year 2024” during the two-day European Ferry Shipping Summit held in Athens last week. The award goes to the Piraeus Port Authority SA (PPA SA) – majority owned by China Cosco Shipping – for its coastal shipping services and was presented during a special ceremony on the sidelines of the event.


JP Morgan has revised its outlook for Greece to “overweight” from “neutral,” citing improved economic performance including an expanding GDP and the enhanced balance sheets of Greek banks. The investment bank notes that Greece is showing the strongest GDP growth in the Eurozone. Additionally, efforts to clear up bank balance sheets are anticipated to yield increased capital returns.


Greek police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old man who killed his former partner in yet another incident of femicide in the city of Agrinio in western Greece. The victim, a 43-year-old mother of three children, was fatally shot on Monday near the local football stadium. According to reports, the woman was shot at point-blank range in the abdomen and was immediately rushed to hospital, bleeding profusely.
