Speaking to the Athens News Agency (AMNA), the Director of Communications & Marketing at the Athens International Airport (AIA), Ioanna Papadopoulou, laid out the plans for Greece’s largest airport in the wake of impressive passenger traffic figures. The director said the group had so far put up outstanding numbers regarding passenger traffic and flights, underscoring that in 2024 passenger traffic amounted to 27.5 million, marking a 12.9% increase compared to 2023.


The Greek government is set to introduce significant tax relief measures aimed at encouraging large-scale private investments, enhancing manufacturing and supporting the financing of startups. This new initiative follows a proposal by Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos and is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2025.


The Region of Attica will install 388 CCTV cameras in Athens at key intersections across the basin to record red light violations 24/7 and issue fines to offenders. Attica governor Nikos Hardalias signed the relevant contract on Monday for the procurement and installation of these state-of-the-art cameras aimed at reducing traffic accidents. The CCTVs will be placed at strategic locations identified by the Attica Traffic Police, known for high accident rates in the past.


Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated Donald Trump on his election promptly, before it had been fully confirmed: “Congratulations Donald Trump on your election victory,” he wrote on X. “Greece looks forward to further deepening the strategic partnership between our two countries and working together on important regional and global issues.”
