An opinion poll of respondents in Great Britain, of particular interest back in Greece, shows a majority in favor of a repatriation – from the British Museum in London – of the Parthenon Marbles. The results of the poll, conducted by YouGov, show 53% in favor of the prospect, out of a total sample of 4,280 respondents. Conversely, 24% of respondents stated that they favor the friezes remaining where they are; 23% were non-committal.


Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis denied Greece has sent Patriot and S300 anti-missile batteries to Ukraine during a scheduled press briefing in Athens on Monday morning. “There is absolutely no such case; I categorically deny it,” Marinakis said, responding to a question about whether Greece had dispatched the two anti-missile systems (US-made Patriots and Russian-made S300 missile systems) to the war theater in Ukraine.


The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis traveled to London on Monday to attract investors to Greece. During his London visit, the prime minister inaugurated the 3rd Greek Investment Conference, organized by Morgan Stanley.


Areas in the islands of Rhodes and Lemnos were declared in a state of emergency on Monday by the Civil Protection Agency following severe flooding due to the Bora storm. Greek authorities stated the state of emergency in the islands will be in force until December 30. The destructive effects of the extreme weather phenomena have so far claimed the lives of three people. Two individuals lost their lives in Rhodes and Lemnos, while the latest fatality was reported on Monday in the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece.
