Pulse Firm: ND with 15%-Point Lead in Latest Poll

Without an extrapolation, ND is given 29% in the latest poll, half a percentage point higher than the previous month’s poll by the same firm

Results of the most recent opinion poll unveiled this month has ruling New Democracy (ND) party ahead of main opposition SYRIZA by 15% points in the voters’ intent category, a figure that comes three weeks before European Parliament elections.

The poll, conducted by the Pulse firm and presented on the prime-time newscast of Athens-based Skai TV, surveyed 1,104 respondents between the May 13 to May 15 period.

In a breakdown of the results, 80% of respondents who said they would vote for center-right ND said they are sure of their decision. Similarly, 81% of respondents saying they’ll vote for SYRIZA are sure of their decision.

Without an extrapolation of the results, ND is given 29%, half a percentage point higher than the previous month’s poll by the same firm. SYRIZA follows with 14%, distancing itself from third-place PASOK party, which garnered 11% of respondents’ preferences.

The right-wing and populist Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) party continued to figure in high single-digit “territory”, with 8%.

The number of respondents described as undecided reached 12.5% in the specific opinion poll.

Specifically:

ND: 29%
SYRIZA: 14%

PASOK: 11%
Elliniki Lysi: 8%
Communist Party (KKE): 7%
Course of Freedom (Plevsi Eleftherias): 3%
Niki: 3%
A showing of above 3% of the general vote (of valid ballots) is required for a Greek party to field a deputy in the European Parliament.

In an extrapolation of the vote based on the distribution of undecided voters, ND is shown at 33%; 16% for SYRIZA, 12.5% for socialist PASOK and 9% for KKE, while another two lesser parties are also calculated as polling above 3%.

Incumbent Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis retains a comfortable lead for his nearest rival, SYRIZA president Stefanos Kasselakis, on the question of who is most capable to be premier, 36% to 12%, respectively. The response “no one” was favored by 22% of respondents.
