The national economy and finance ministry on Monday said the Greek state’s tax revenues increased by 4.8% – 1.989 billion euros – compared to the budgeted target between January and August. Over the same period, the primary surplus, on a modified cash basis, reached 7.571 billion euros, almost double the target of 3.316 billion euros.
According to the ministry, based on preliminary data on the execution of the state budget, a surplus in the state budget balance reached 1.048 billion euros, compared to a target deficit of 2.774 billion euros included in the report of the 2024 budget for the corresponding period, and compared with a deficit of 92 million euros for the same period in 2023.
The primary result, on a modified cash basis, was a surplus of 7.571 billion euros, compared to a primary surplus target of 3.316 billion euros and a primary surplus of 5.596 billion euros for the corresponding period in 2023.
