Greek-owned Vessel Targeted by Two Missiles Off Yemen

The crew remain unharmed

According to British maritime security firm Ambrey, the Greek-owned, Marshall-islands flagged bulker was targeted during its passage through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, reportedly on its way to Bandar Imam Khomeini, a city in Iran.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said it had received a report earlier today of an incident 40 nautical miles (74 km) south of Mokha, a port city in Yemen.

The Bab al-Mandab Strait is located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti in the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

Two incidents were reported within two minutes, while the vessel suffered damage on its starboard side.

According to the UKMTO, the crew are unharmed and on their way to the next port of call.

Iran-aligned Houthi militants in Yemen have frequently targeted commercial ships since November of last year, in what they say is a response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
