Greece’s Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, is traveling to Brussels to participate in the Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings, on Monday Nov. 4.

A joint statement is expected to be adopted regarding the competitiveness of the European economy by the EU’s finance ministers during the Eurogroup meeting which will be held on Monday.

The meeting’s agenda will also include a discussion on the Eurozone’s banking system and its challenges, monitoring progress regarding the Capital Market Union, and reviewing recent macroeconomic developments, with a focus on inflation.

During the ECOFIN meeting, which will take place on Tuesday Nov. 5, the Council’s goal is to reach a political agreement on the legislative package concerning VAT in the digital age.

The EU ministers will also be briefed on the implementation of the Recovery Fund and are expected to approve the revised national plans of the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

ECOFIN discussions will also focus on the tax implications of the Draghi report on European economic competitiveness, the economic impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the findings of the European Fiscal Council’s report.

What is more, the Council Conclusions on EU statistics for 2024 are also expected to be approved by the EU ministers.

Furthermore, as part of ECOFIN, the customary Ministerial Dialogue between the EU and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries will take place.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the Greek minister is also expected to engage in discussions with other European officials.
