The Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, is traveling to Brussels to participate in the meetings of the Eurogroup and Ecofin taking place on Dec. 9 and 10.
The Eurogroup meeting, conducted on Monday, will engage in discussions with the United Kingdom’s Finance Minister, Rachel Reeves, as part of a series of meetings with key international partners on global economic developments.
Additionally, there will be a focus on macroeconomic trends in the Eurozone, based on the findings of the International Monetary Fund’s interim assessment. The relevant ministers will also review the fiscal situation of Eurozone member states based on the budget plans they have submitted and their evaluation by the European Commission.
The Ecofin meeting will convene on Tuesday. The discussions will focus on the revision of the Directive on energy taxation and a progress report on the reform of EU customs legislation.
Furthermore, the ministers will be briefed on the progress of the Recovery Fund’s implementation and will be called upon to approve the revised national plans from Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia, and Sweden.
The agenda will also feature discussions on the progress of implementing the revised economic governance framework, which will come into effect on April 30, 2024.
The ministers will also touch upon the economic impact of the war in Ukraine and the European Court of Auditors’ Annual Report on the implementation of the EU budget for 2023.
