Greece’s trade deficit fell by 32 percent last month, with imports dropping by 19.4 percent (yoy) and exports by 8.8 percent, the Hellenic Statistical Authority announced on Friday.

Specifically, the value of imports reached 7.214 billion euros in October 2023, down 19.4 percent from the corresponding month of 2022. Excluding oil products, imports fell by 6.5 percent.

The value of exports reached 4.421 billion euros, down 8.8 percent from October 2022. Excluding oil products, exports fell 1.4 percent.

The trade deficit stood at 2.793 billion euros in October 2023, resulting in the decrease of 32 percent from the corresponding month last year. Excluding oil products, the deficit fell by 12.7 percent.

Over the January-October 2023 period, the value of imports reached 68.675 billion euros, down 12.2 percent from 2022. Excluding oil products, imports fell by 3.2 percent.

The value of exports reached 42.867 billion euros over the first 10-month period of the year, down 7.1 percent from same period in2022. Excluding oil products, exports fell by a marginal 0.4 percent.

The trade deficit dropped by 19.6 percent over the first 10-month period of 2023, reaching 25.808 billion euros. Excluding oil products, the deficit fell by 6.9 percent.
