The inflation rate – on an annual basis – in Greece more than doubled in October 2023, compared to the previous month, calculated at 3.4 percent, according to figures announced on Friday by the country’s statistics authority (EL.STAT).
The same rate for September 2023 was 1.6 percent.
In an even more ominous development, the inflation rate for foods again neared “double-digit territory”, reaching 9.9 percent, up from 9.4 percent in the previous month.
The inflation rate for the Eurozone, however, eased under 3 percent, while the annual harmonized index for consumer prices in Greece reached 3.9 percent, compared to 2.4 percent in September 2023 and 3.5 percent in August 2023.
Based on EL.STAT figures, the same rate for Greece slowed to 1.6 percent in September; 2.7 percent in August and 2.5 percent in July 2023.
