Greece’s relevant environment and energy ministry on Tuesday a subsidy of 1.5 cents per kilowatt for this month (January), a measure expected to affect the vast majority of household consumers in the country in the face of again rising energy costs.

The final kilowatt price, for the month, is now expected to hover at round 14 cents.

The subsidy is provided without income criteria and for both primary and secondary residences.

Specifically for consumption of 500kWh, the subsidy will be set at 15 euro per MWh.

The total outlay for the measures is budgeted at 20.9 million euros.

According to the ministry, the average value of the “green” price rate extended by the three biggest low-voltage electricity providers (as a market percentage), including the subsidy for January 2025, reaches 140.3 euros /MWh.
