Gastrade’s FSRU-based LNG import terminal off the extreme northeast coast of Greece on Friday received its first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The LNG carrier GasLog Hong Kong was previously reported as the vessel set to arrive off port of Alexandroupolis bearing the commissioning cargo for the Alexandroupolis FSRU, according to a spokesperson for Gastrade.

The inaugural LNG shipment will test the operation of the newly completed Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) terminal off Alexandroupolis.

According to Greece’s public gas corporation, DEPA Commercial, shareholders who manage FSRU sped up the implementation of the energy project.

The LNG carrier, chartered by France’s TotalEnergies, previously picked up a cargo at Sempra’s Cameron LNG plant in the US state of Louisiana, as Ot.gr had previously reported.

Gatsrade’s shareholders include founder Copelouzos group, DESFA, DEPA, Bulgartransgaz and GasLog.
