Fraport Greece said international passenger traffic at Thessaloniki’s airport increased 10.4% year on year in January 2024, according to reports at OT.gr.
The company manages 14 regional airports in Greece including: Aktio, Chania, Corfu, Kavala, Cephalonia, Thessaloniki, Zakynthos, Kos, Mytilene, Mykonos, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini and Skiathos.
Passenger traffic across all airports in January grew on average 7.4% year on year to 640,500 travelers. Of the total amount of travelers, 406,000 passed through the Thessaloniki airport called “Makedonia Airport”.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of passenger traffic in January 2024 was on account of domestic travel, reaching 396,000 travelers. Of the 244,700 international travelers that passed through Fraport’s airports, almost all went through Thessaloniki.
Considering all regional airports aside from Thessaloniki, Rhodes saw the greatest passenger traffic at 59,000 travelers, up 9.6% year on year, followed by Chania at 58,500 travelers, which was just 1.7% higher than last January.
The shareholders of Fraport Greece are the German airport operator Fraport AG and the Greek business development organization Copelouzos Group.
