The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, in a joint presentation with his Deputy Minister, Nikos Papathanasis revealed the latest developments in funding tools such as the EU Structural Funds, the Recovery and Resilience Facility, and the Hellenic Development Bank, aimed to improve the lives of Greek citizens. The announcements were made during a press conference titled “Public Investments: Projects and Reforms Improving Citizens’ Daily Lives,” on Thursday, Jan. 16.

During the conference, Hatzidakis outlined a series of eight major reforms planned for 2025. Among them is a reform of the justice system, including the introduction of a new judicial map to enhance efficiency.

Urban planning will also see a transformation, with the implementation of local and specialized urban plans across 750 municipal districts, addressing long-standing issues such as land-use clarity and tackling unauthorized construction.

The health sector is expected see significant improvements, amongst which is the renovation of 80 public hospitals and upgrades to primary healthcare facilities, alongside the expansion of the “Personal Doctor” program.

Key infrastructure projects were also highlighted, such as the northern segment of the E65 motorway, spanning 70 kilometers.

In housing, the “My Home 2” program, launched on Wednesday Jan. 15 with Recovery and Resilience Facility funds, is off to a strong start. As revealed by the deputy minister within just 25 hours of opening, the program had already received 25,000 eligibility applications—an impressive rate of approximately 1,000 applications per hour.

Other priorities for 2025 include the completion of initiatives such as the national land registry, as well as investments in environmental sustainability, with 85 projects focused on urban wastewater treatment and purification.
