Vehicle registrations in Greece saw a 2.4% increase for the full year of 2024, according to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Specifically, from Jan. to Dec. 2024, a total of 243,796 vehicles (new or imported used) were registered for the first time, compared to 238,117 during the same period in 2023. This represents a 2.4% rise. By contrast, the corresponding period in 2023 had recorded a significant 16.1% increase compared to 2022.

New vehicle registrations alone during Jan–Dec. 2024 reached 148,276, marking a 1.8% increase compared to the 145,667 units registered in the same period of 2023.

Motorcycles Surge by 18%

The registration of motorcycles over 50cc (both new and imported used) experienced a growth of 18.0% during the Jan–Dec. 2024 period, reaching 81,897 units compared to 69,425 in 2023. This follows a 15.9% increase recorded in 2023 over 2022. Among these, new motorcycles accounted for 77,979 registrations in 2024, reflecting an 18.5% increase compared to 65,814 in 2023.

December 2024 Registrations

In Dec. of 2024, 14,815 vehicles (new and imported used) were registered for the first time, marking a 4.9% decline compared to the 15,581 registrations in Dec. 2023, according to ELSTAT’s recent data.

However, the number of newly registered vehicles in Dec. 2024 reached 9,314, corresponding to a 4.4% increase over the 8,919 units recorded in the same month of the previous year.

Motorcycle Registrations Surge

Registrations of motorcycles over 50cc (both new and imported used) showed a significant rise in Dec. 2024. A total of 3,277 motorcycles were registered, representing a sharp 28.9% increase compared to the 2,543 registrations in Dec. 2023.
