According to the latest data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), the General Industrial Production Index for Feb. 2024 exhibited an annual uptick of 1.6% when contrasted with the figures from Feb. 2023.
The broader trend over the Jan-Feb. 2024 period also signals positive growth, with the average General Industrial Production Index witnessing an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period last year.
However, the seasonally adjusted General Industrial Production Index for Feb. 2024 experienced a slight dip of 1.7% when juxtaposed with Jan. 2024 figures.
Specific sectors saw significant fluctuations in Feb. 2024. The sector engaged in the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations saw a notable decline in its index, while the sector involved in the manufacturing of electronic computers, electronic, and optical products marked a substantial uptick compared to Jan. 2024.
Comparing Feb. 2024 indices with their counterparts from Feb. 2023, the sector of manufacturing other transport equipment registered the most substantial percentage increase.
Conversely, sectors such as coal mining and lignite extraction, crude oil, and natural gas extraction, alongside support activities for mining, experienced the largest percentage decrease, suggesting potential challenges within these segments.
