Building activity in Greece surged in March 2024 with private and public permits granted up by 39.8%, compared to the previous month, according to Greece’s statistical authority ELSTAT.
The building permits for the Private Building Activity issued in Greece in March 2024 amounted to 3,728, corresponding to 864,988 m2 of surface and 3,248,483 m3 of volume.
In comparison with the same month of 2023, there is a 39.6% increase in the number of building permits, a 37.7% increase in surface, and a 13.1% increase in volume.
There were 28 permits issued for Public buildings in Greece in March 2024, a figure that corresponds to 8,048 m2 of surface and 37,073 m3 of volume. Public Building Activity accounted for 1.1% of the total building volume in March 2024.
From April 2023 until March 2024, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, calculated based on the number of issued building permits, amounted to 29,512.
This figure corresponds to 6,780,660 m2 of surface and 30,754,562 m3 of volume. In comparison with the corresponding period from April 2022 until March 2023, there is a 14.0% increase in the number of building permits, a 16.3% increase in surface and a 16.2% increase in volume.
In the same period, from April 2023 until March 2024, Private Building Activity in Greece recorded a 14.1% increase in the number of issued building permits, a 16.8% increase in surface and a 16.7% increase in volume, compared with the corresponding period from April 2022 to March 2023.
