British, Germans Tourists Behind Nearly Half of Greek Tourism Revenues in 2022

Holiday makers from the UK and Germany comprised 44 percent of all foreign visitors’ travel remittances in Greece last year, 2022, according to a study by the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

German nationals were the leading spenders, at 4.47 billion euros, followed by British holiday-makers, (3.64 billion euros). German tourists stayed in the country an average of 10.3 days, compared to 10.1 days for British tourists. Daily spending by German tourists was calculated at 144 euros per overnight stay; 130 euros for British tourists.

A large percentage of Germans visitors also preferred all-inclusive vacations, making up 25 percent of all arrivals, compared to British tourists who amounted to 19 percent. They did, however, tended to stay less on average (8.7 days) than the latter (9.3 days).
