Aegean Airlines on Thursday announced a new annual seat record, saying it sold some 18.5 million seats in 2023, up from 3.1 million compared with 2022 (26%).
The airline cited 11.1 million seats for international destinations, up 2.2 million up from 2022, and said its traffic reached 9.2 million passengers, up 29% from the previous year.
Domestic traffic was up 22%, while the average flight occupancy rate rose to 83.4%, up from 79.4% in 2022.
Aegean announced a network of 180 destinations in 49 countries, with more than 30 new international destinations by the summer of 2023.
Passenger traffic through the Athens International Airport totaled 13 million passengers, up 27% from 2022, also a record high. Domestic traffic rose 22% to 5.7 million, while international traffic increased by 32% to 7.2 million passengers.
