Travel remittances in Greece from the all-important tourism and holiday sector posted a new record in 2024, calculated as reaching 21.7 billion euros in 2024, up from 20.593 billion euros in 2023, according to provisional figures released on Thursday by the Bank of Greece (BoG).

The last month of the previous year, December 2024, sees tourism-related revenues reach 435.1 million euros, up from 326.4 million euros in the corresponding month of 2023.

The figure for 2024 breaks the previous record.

Initial assessments hold that a significant increase in arrivals by air and overland by vehicle more than countervailed a lower average spending per visitor figure.

According to Greek Tourism Confederation’s (SETE) research arm, 2025 is forecast to post a new record in terms of remittances and arrivals.
