Dedicated to the artistry, diversity, and rich legacy of women’s ceramics in Greece, Mon Coin Studio, a haven for modern Greek ceramics, is hosting the exhibition titled “WOMEN CERAMIC ARTISTS OF GREECE”.
From antiquity to the present day, Greek women ceramists have often worked beneath the radar, creating pieces that go beyond expected utilitarian items, showcasing high artistic value.
The exhibition seamlessly blends timeless tradition with the dynamism of contemporary creation, inviting 140 Greek female artists to present their works in articulate sections, resembling “chapters,” each highlighting the richness of contemporary ceramics.
Through this exhibition Mon Coin Studio displays works that represent diverse trends in women’s ceramic art. From artists following traditional patterns to those exploring innovative approaches, the exhibition redefines material usage and explores form and decoration in pioneering ways.
The organizer behind this event is Eleonore Trenado Finetis, founder of Mon Coin Studio and a key figure in the non-profit organization Greek Ceramix Contemporary, which aims to promote Greek contemporary ceramics and ceramists.
“The exhibition aims to enrich our perception of contemporary ceramics in Greece, divided into three sections due to the wealth gathered,” notes Eleonore Trenado-Finetis.
“It includes artists who have left their mark on Greek ceramics, as well as younger creators from across Greece, women living and working abroad, and those who have made our country their new homeland with sculptures, museum replicas, decorative, and functional objects,” emphasizes Trenado-Finetis.
The exhibition offers free admission and is open to the public Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mon Coin Studio (Thisiou 7, Athens 105 55).
