Goodnight I love you is part of the celebratory events for Maria Callas’s birth centenary in December 2023. The exhibition, featuring a collection of the legendary diva’s memorabilia and wardrobe from Nikos Charalampopoulos’s collection, aims to shed light on the multifaceted personality of the esteemed soprano both on and off the stage. The display includes a representative costume created by Yannis Tsarouchis for Callas’ performance of the opera “Medea” at Epidaurus. “Cavalleria rusticana – Pagliacci” by Pietro Mascagni & Ruggero Leoncavallo

The Greek National Opera in its newest production showcases Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, renowned as the most famous double-bill opera. Directed by Nikos Karathanos and conducted by Antonello Allemandi this opera double bill will be hosted at the Stage of Stavros Niarchos Hall at the SNFCC this Saturday, January 28, at 7:30PM, and for four more performances. Both operas belong to the Italian “verismo” movement, seeking to portray the world with greater realism in the Italian opera in the last decade of the 19th century. Stepping away from the fervor ideals associated with Romantic operas, these short operas narrate the passions of ordinary people living in southern Italy.
