French Language Film Festival 2024
In celebration of the French-language Film Festival, which commenced on April 3 and will conclude on April 10, cinephiles have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a diverse selection of French-speaking films showcased at Astor and Danaos cinemas, as well as at The French Institute of Athens.
Notably, The French Institute will host special events this Saturday, April 6, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Among the highlights is a session with cinematographer Naomi Amarger, exploring ‘The Art of Image in Cinema’ (‘L’art de l’image au cinema’), scheduled for 4:00 pm. Following this, there will be a screening of the film ‘Divertimiento,’ for which Amarger served as the cinematographer, starting at 5:30 pm. Additionally, attendees can enjoy the screening of three short films created by students from the ENS Louis-Lumière school, representing three different generations, beginning at 8:00 pm.

WOW Athens 2024
As part of the WOW (Women Of the World) Foundation events, WOW Athens 2024 returns for the second time to Athens from April 6th to 8th, hosted at the SNFCC. Over two days, the festival celebrates women, girls, and non-binary individuals. This year’s program features a variety of events and activities, including discussions on key global issues affecting women and girls such as gender-based violence, workplace gender stereotypes, and reproductive rights. Additionally, there will be mentoring sessions, workshops, film screenings, and concerts by renowned artists.

Highlights of this year’s festival include a screening on Angela Davis: A World of Greater Freedom, a staged reading performance by Suzie Miller, a concert by award-winning artist Hania Rani, a discussion with Pussy Riot collective founder Nadya Tolokonnikova, a conversation with Booker Prize-nominated author Deborah Levy, and an engaging talk with the versatile Katy Hessel.
Admission is based on a Choose-What-You-Pay model, with a minimum price of 10 euros for the WOW Festival Pass 2024. “Nature and Traditional Music”, Technopolis City of Athens
The Domna Samiou Greek Folk Music Association, dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of Greek traditional music, collaborates with the Natural Environment & Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A.) to highlight the deep and inseparable relationship between Greek traditional music and nature, by organizing a two-day celebration at Technopolis City of Athens.
On Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. more than twenty traditional music bands comprised of young Greek and Cypriot musicians will take the stage, performing Greek traditional songs that mention elements of nature, inviting everyone to celebrate the arrival of spring. The event offers free admission.

Neo-Impressionism in the Colours of the Mediterranean, Goulandris Foundation
This weekend marks the final opportunity for visitors to delve into the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation ‘s exhibition on Neo-Impressionism, titled “Neo-Impressionism in the Colours of the Mediterranean”. Recognized as the first of its kind in Greece, this groundbreaking exhibition aims to present the Neo-Impressionist art movement within the context of the Mediterranean.

In collaboration with prominent European museums and institutions such as the Musée d’Orsay, the National Gallery in London, and Centre Pompidou, as well as private collectors across Europe, Goulandris Foundation features works by renowned artists including Paul Signac, Henri-Edmond Cross, Maximilien Luce, Théo van Rysselberghe, and Henri Matisse, among others. As many of the exhibited masterpieces are displayed for the first time in Greece, visitors have a unique opportunity to explore the rich artistic legacy of Neo-Impressionism.
