Broken Mirror exhibition

The “Argo Gallery” welcomes nine painters and a sculptor to the group exhibition “Broken Mirror,” inspired by the quasi-transcendental symbol of the mirror, particularly a broken one. This mirror can “reflect,” “absorb,” or “distort.” The participating artists—Sotiris Adrianos, Dorothea Ameda, Kostas Varotsos, Christi Grigoriou, Juliano Kaglis, Evita Kanellou, Katerina Mavroleon, Vangelis Rinas, Katerina Ribatsiou, and Mara Tsafantaki—explore the boundaries of their own world and the ever-changing world around them. By placing the broken mirror at the core of their work, they seek to find a delicate balance between abstraction and representation, free gesture and subtle elegance, immersion in the subconscious, and a critical examination of a reality that is never one-dimensional. The exhibition is available during the gallery’s opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm, and Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm, until March 23.

Escape Plan 1984/2024 – International Printmaking Exhibition

The Athens Printmaking Art Center inaugurates the international printmaking group exhibition Escape Plan 1984/2024 today from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm at ETCH INK art space, running throughout March 1-30. Forty-one contemporary printmakers and visual artists from various countries reflect on George Orwell’s prophetic novel “1984” and today’s socio-political climate, presenting their own alternative plans for the future. The participants illustrate their scenarios and escape routes, envisioning a different future using etching techniques, intaglio, aquatint, linocut, silkscreen, and combinations of mixed printmaking techniques. The exhibition offers free admission and is open to the public Wednesday to Friday from 5 pm to 9 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.
