For years, the “Island of the Winds,” as Mykonos is known, has remained one of the world’s most pioneering destinations for events featuring superstar DJs. Staying true to that tradition, Cavo Paradiso is once again bringing some of the biggest names in electronic music to the Greek island this summer, including the legendary David Morales.
DJs have long since transformed their profession from simply playing records into one of the most influential forces in the modern music industry. They do more than play music: They create it, shape it and help set global trends. They pioneered the remix, taking existing songs and reworking them for the dance floor.
Names such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Avicii went on to become the primary producers behind some of the biggest pop hits, helping turn electronic dance music (EDM) into a dominant force on the charts. DJs have also played a central role in both hip-hop and electronic music. Genres such as house, which emerged in Chicago, techno, which developed in Detroit, and the later rise of dubstep all grew out of DJs’ experimentation in clubs.
Following that tradition, Cavo Paradiso presents a packed series of major events throughout the remaining days of August:

Morales received his first Grammy nomination in 1996 as a producer for “Daydream Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix),” featured on Mariah Carey’s Daydream album. He was nominated again and won the 1998 Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year.
