Ryan Hurst Joins Christopher Nolan’s Cast for ‘The Odyssey’

Christopher Nolan’s ambitious adaptation of The Odyssey continues to build its stellar ensemble. In addition to Matt Damon, who takes on the iconic role of Odysseus, the film boasts an all-star cast featuring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, and Anne Hathaway. Now, Ryan Hurst has been added to the lineup.

Hurst, best known for his standout performances in Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead, is the latest actor to join Nolan’s epic retelling of Homer’s legendary tale.

The Universal Pictures production is already underway, with recent sightings of Matt Damon in Greece fueling anticipation for the film. With Nolan at the helm and a cast of A-list talent, The Odyssey is shaping up to be one of the most exciting cinematic projects in the works.

Described by Universal as a “mythic action epic filmed across the world using cutting-edge IMAX technology,” The Odyssey will bring Homer’s legendary tale to IMAX screens for the first time. The film is set to premiere worldwide on July 17, 2026.

The classic Greek epic follows Odysseus, played by Damon in Nolan’s retelling, as he endures a ten-year journey home to Ithaca following the Trojan War. His odyssey is filled with divine interventions, mythical creatures—including Cyclopes—and relentless challenges. Meanwhile, his wife and son must fend off a horde of suitors eager to claim his throne.
