Renowned Greek music composer – pianist Manos Kitsikopoulos is set to enchant crowds with his upcoming performance at the Hellenic American Union (HAU) in downtown Athens on Thursday, June 13. His event, entitled “Piano in the Night”, is destined to draw groups of music-loving urbanites looking for an evening of melody.
Accompanied by a narration of literature and poetry from author Makis Provatas, the event aims to tell a story of musical legend. Works of famous composers such as Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin will also be highlighted throughout this musical journey.
Kitsikopoulos, 38, is recognized by many as an exemplary composer of Greek music. Born in Athens, he attended London’s Royal Academy of Music, where he earned his Masters degree in Piano Performance. He has since become a resourceful musician, with strengths in “improvising and composing music.” For his work in composing, Kitsikopoulos has been awarded honors such as the Dorothy Briant Award in 2015 and the “Eleni Mykoniou” Prize by the Academy of Athens, amongst others.
Kitsikopoulos and Provatas are set to perform at 7:30 pm on Thursday, while the event is open to the public at no cost.
