‘Piano City Athens’ Returns on Thur.

Piano City Athens, taking place from May 16-20, promises 100 free piano concerts and additional events in the city's most unconventional venues, including museums, parks and squares

After captivating audiences in Berlin, New York, Milan and various other cities, Andreas Kern’s project, Piano City®, is set to make its debut in Athens on Thursday. Piano City Athens will bring around 100 free piano concerts to diverse locations across the city, filling Athens’ neighborhoods with music.

Running until May 20, Piano City Athens,  now in its second year, aims to liven up the urban landscape with music, an initiative that hopes to break the traditional mold of musical performances.  As a result, for the next five days music, rather than “luring” the audience into closed venues, will reverberate across squares, parks, hospitals, residences, museums and more unconventional settings.

Numerous institutions, artists, clubs, networks, and partners have joined forces to illuminate this musical endeavor. Notably, this five-day event is an integral part of the This is Athens City Festival  which is unfolding throughout the entire month.

In addition to the array of free piano recitals around the city, the program includes intimate home performances featuring both professional and amateur pianists, who’ll open their homes to the public. Furthermore, several special events will be held that require ticket purchases.
