A Special Screening at the Hellenic American Union

As part of Black History Month, the Hellenic American Union (HAU) presents the Oscar-winning film Places in the Heart (1984) on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 19:00, with free admission.

Robert Benton’s classic drama was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won two: Best Actress for Sally Field—known for her unforgettable acceptance speech—and Best Original Screenplay for Benton.

Set during the Great Depression in 1933, the film follows a widow (Sally Field) struggling to save her farm from foreclosure while raising her two children. With the help of a wandering Black man (Danny Glover) and a blind boarder (John Malkovich), she confronts the prejudice and hardships of the time.

The film will be screened with Greek subtitles.
