Greek artist Nikos Papadimitriou’s latest exhibition is meant to unnerve you.
Off Balance, on view from March 27 to April 26, 2025 at the Ekfrasi-Yianna Grammatopoulou Gallery in central Athens is curated to bring a sense of unease. In this installation, Papadimitriou takes on the escalating climate crisis, creating landscapes both urgent and blurred to convey the destabilization that is disrupting our world.

The exhibition challenges the viewer’s perception of balance through abstract landscapes careening of tilt and an innovative use of industrial materials, all set against a slanted floor that quite literally sets the viewer of balance.
In the gallery’s basement, the exhibition concludes with a sculptural iceberg—a stark metaphor for the global environmental crisis and the existential threat posed by climate change.

With Off Balance, Papadimitriou delivers more than just a visual experience; he prompts a call to action. The work immerses the audience in the uncomfortable yet necessary conversation about humanity’s role in the world’s ecological decline, urging us to reflect on how much time we have left to confront the crisis and change our trajectory.
Papadimitriou has long explored themes of competition, dominance, and the human desire for control. This exhibition marks another evolution in his exploration of the relationship between human behavior and the environment, using everything from sculpture to video to convey his message.
