History, arts, and culture lovers will enjoy free admission to selected archaeological sites, monuments, historical places, and museums in Greece during the night of the fullmoon on Monday, August 19, 2024, as part of the Greek Culture Ministry’s “August Fullmoon” events and happenings set to take place on August 19.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Culture over 100 archaeological sites, museums in Greece, monuments, and places of historical significance across Greece will open their doors to visitors under the full moonlight free of charge.
Several events and happenings are scheduled to take place on the night of the full moon at over 50 museums and archaeological sites, while history buffs and art lovers will have free access to tens of other sites on the night.
According to the posted schedule, this year’s event will be accompanied by activities from August 9 to 25.
These activities include theatrical and musical performances, stargazing, storytelling, and guided tours, organized by the services of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage and the General Directorate of Restoration, Museums, and Technical Works, many of which are in collaboration with local authorities and local associations.
The Archaeological Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki and the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion will also host events as part of the organization.
