More than 1 million euros will be allocated to upgrading the Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki – MOMus, Deputy Minister of Culture Christos Dimas told state run news agency AMNA.
“We look forward to a significantly enhanced MOMus, more outward-looking, with an online presence both online and in society. We expect it to become a hub for contemporary culture with an international presence,” Dimas said.
Three projects aiming at bolstering the Organization’s digital presence, cultural exports and social contribution are to be funded by the Recovery Resilience Fund.
The first project will address the Organization’s digital applications and visual identity. A new audiovisual identity (brand) will be developed for the MOMus and its digital applications and services will be upgraded further.
The second project will focus on its cultural exports and participation in International Exhibitions. Extra support will be provided for the production of digital works and MOMus participations in international exhibitions, with a view to strengthening its cultural presence at an international level.
The third program will design and implement programs for adults aged 65+ and people with partial or total vision loss, with a view to promoting art and culture through the participation of these groups.
The MOMus Organization is comprised of four museums in Thessaloniki and one in Athens: the Museum of Modern Art-Costakis Collection, the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, the Museum of Contemporary Art – Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, the State Museum of Contemporary Art Collections and the Experimental Center for the Arts (formerly: Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki), and the Athens based Museum Alex Mylona.
