Theater of the NO brings the legendary opera diva Maria Callas to life on stage this week with its latest production, Maria the Woman, Callas the Legend. Premiering on December 4, this captivating English-language performance will run for three exclusive nights, offering a fresh and intimate perspective on Callas’ extraordinary life and career.

Following a series of cinematic projects and tributes throughout 2023 marking the centenary of Maria Callas’ birth, Maria the Woman, Callas the Legend provides a rare opportunity to experience the legendary soprano’s extraordinary journey within the unique atmosphere of live theater.

Concept creator Jenny Drivala and director Irini Konsta bring to the stage the duality of Callas’ life—revealing both the woman behind the scenes and the enduring legend who forever transformed the world of opera.

Callas’ meteoric rise to fame, her triumphs, her solitude, her fall, and ultimately her death—along with her eternal place in the pantheon of history’s greatest artists—are brought to life through a seamless blend of evocative words, stirring music, and unforgettable performances. The show will run on December 4, 11, and 18 at 9 PM.

This highly anticipated theatrical production coincides with the December 5 Greek cinema release of Pablo Larraín’s biopic Maria. Theatergoers now have the chance to celebrate Callas’ life in two powerful mediums, with the stage offering an unmatched, immersive experience.
