20,000 Species of Bees (20.000 Especies de las Abejas), 2023

Spanish director and screenwriter Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren presents a heartflet coming-of-age story in her debut feature film, 20,000 Species of Bees. Premiered in Greece at the Athens International Film Festival in 2023, this week Greek audiences can experience the multi-award-winning tale of Coco, an 8-year-old transgender girl struggling to find her place in the world. Set in the idyllic Basque countryside, Coco spends an endless summer with her mother and beekeeping grandmother, where the three generations of women undergo life-changing revelations.
