LA CINEF: Greek Film Awarded Second Prize

LA CINEF forms part of the Official Selection of the Festival de Cannes and awards three prizes each year for productions made by film school students around the world

Greek short film “The Chaos She Left Behind” was awarded second place at the LA CINEF Festival, part of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to selecting the best productions from film schools worldwide.

The film, directed by Nikos Kolioukos, a student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, was selected among 2,263 entries from 555 film schools around the world and competed among 17 shortlisted films for a spot in the top three.

The shortlisted productions were presented to the La Cinef and Short Films Competition Jury, who announced the three winners at a ceremony on Thursday.

It shared the second prize with “Out the Window Through the Wall”, directed by Asya Segalovich from Columbia University.

Kolioukos’ directorial debut revolves around Anna, a young woman in her late twenties who feels her life is slipping away. She dreams of going to Paris to study music and gets accepted into music school, but her self-destructive alcoholic father stands in her way of making those dreams come true.
