The Indonesian Embassy in Athens, in collaboration with THEON INTERNATIONAL PLC (THEON), is presenting the artistic exhibition “Special Exhibition 75” to celebrate the 75th anniversary of friendship and diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Greece. The exhibition will take place at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from October 1 to 3, 2024.

Visitors will have the chance to appreciate works of art from contemporary artists from both countries that reflect the historical friendship and cultural interaction between their peoples.

A highlight of this celebration is the exchange of two symbolic artworks, including the presentation of these masterpieces as gifts between the Indonesian and Greek people.

Indonesia will gift Greece an impressive 2.4-meter-tall sculpture titled “RAMA-SINTHA,” expertly crafted from olive wood by renowned Balinese artists I Made Nyoman Sumantra and I Made Nyoman Suparta from the IIA.

In return, THEON will gift Indonesia a marble sculpture of the “Antikythera Mechanism,” paying homage to ancient Greek innovation. This piece will be placed in a public building in Indonesia, symbolizing the technological and cultural connection between Greece and Indonesia.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Greece stated: “This exhibition celebrates 75 years of friendly relations between our two countries, fostering deeper cultural ties and paving the way for future cooperation. This exhibition not only honors our shared history as independent nations but also highlights the power of cultural exchanges to bring nations closer together.”

The exhibition opens its doors at 6:00 PM each evening (October 1–3), with free admission for the public.
