Ten years after his last appearance in the Greek art scene, Thalatta.art gallery welcomes Cypriot artist George Koumouros and his solo exhibition entitled “I am another and Ithaca is elsewhere”, held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in the Hellenic Republic.
From March 28 though May 18, the audience will have the chance to interact with timeless and surreal landscapes Koumouros has created.
His artworks describe travelers’ personal narratives that lead to societies’ collective thoughts but also to isolated communities, which, seeking a way out, strive to improve themselves.
The works painted by Koumouros during the period 2018-2023 are snapshots of his thoughts and reflections on the developing dystopian environment, expressing in a way the anguish of a man who has been trapped by his own creations.
The exhibition was inaugurated with an opening adress by by the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs Athina Michaelidou. It curated by Dr. Megakles Rogakos.
Thalatta.art gallery is a visual arts space in the center of Athens, which promotes established and emerging Greek and international artists, aiming to introduce in the art scene and market a new wave of aesthetic creation.
