Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)

Thirty-six years after the original Beetlejuice (1988), Tim Burton returns with the highly anticipated sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which premiered at the 81st Venice Film Festival to positive reviews from critics. Released in Greek cinemas today, the film remains true to Burton’s signature style and boasts an all-star cast.

The story picks up after an unexpected family tragedy, as three generations of the Deetz family return to their home in Winter River. Lydia, still haunted by her past with Beetlejuice, is thrown into new turmoil when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers a mysterious model of the town hidden in the attic and inadvertently opens a portal to the Afterlife. With tensions building in both worlds, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, bringing the mischievous demon back to wreak havoc once more.

The Count of Monte Cristo (2024)

After the recent 2023 film adaptations of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers (D’Artagnan and Milady), another of the French novelist’s classic works comes to the big screen in Greek cinemas. Directors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière present their take on The Count of Monte Cristo.

This sweeping retelling of Dumas’ masterpiece follows the story of Edmond Dantès, a sailor wrongfully imprisoned for life after being betrayed by his friends and sentenced by a corrupt magistrate. After a daring escape, Edmond secures a vast fortune and returns to France, assuming the identity of the “Count of Monte Cristo.” With his new persona, he carefully plots his revenge against those who destroyed him.
