The Hellenic Centre for Cinema, Audiovisual Media, and Creation (HFAC) – Creative Greece, represented by Leonidas Christopoulos, and the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA), France’s national body responsible for audiovisual archives, represented by Agnès Chauveau signed a new cooperation memorandum, on Friday, March 28, at the French Embassy in Greece. The signing took place in the presence of the French Ambassador to Greece, Laurence Auer.
The memorandum marks the beginning of a close collaboration between the two organizations, encompassing mutual enrichment of archival collections, participation in international programs and policies, exchange of expertise, and specialized training for staff of Greece’s National Digital Repository at HFAC in innovative digitization techniques and new technologies.
This agreement aligns with the Greek Ministry of Culture’s strategic plan to establish a national archival policy in the audiovisual sector, safeguard the country’s digital cultural heritage, and enhance international cooperation in audiovisual archives.
“France is the birthplace of cinema and a country that has meticulously worked on preserving film archives and audiovisual material,” stated French Ambassador Laurence Auer.
“At the same time, Greece also recognizes the importance of preserving its cultural heritage. I am proud to be present at the signing of this cooperation agreement between our two nations.”
