FokiaNou Art Space will host “Karlsruhe-Athen. Auf Wiedersehen,” a group exhibition featuring seven contemporary artists from Germany, running for three days from April 11 to 13. The opening reception will take place on Friday, April 11 at 6:00 p.m., with visiting hours on Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fokianou 24, 7th floor, in Pagrati.

Curated by artist and gallerist Christian Schmid of Karlsruhe’s independent art space ShowroomSchmitt, the exhibition marks the latest chapter in an ongoing cultural exchange between the two artist-run spaces. The project aims to foster dialogue between the art scenes of Karlsruhe and Athens by presenting German artists in Greece this spring, with a reciprocal exhibition by Greek artists planned in Karlsruhe this May.

The featured artists—Lorenz Bögle, Kai Fischer, Judith Lindner, Christian Schmid, Mike Überall, Marcel Vangermain, and Georg Vesper—previously participated in “Locals Only”, a February 2025 exhibition at ShowroomSchmitt that offered an alternative to the commercial art fair Art Karlsruhe. Now reuniting in Athens, their work once again finds common ground in the alternative and collaborative spirit that defines both venues.

The exhibition’s title, “Karlsruhe-Athen. Auf Wiedersehen,” evokes both a farewell and a continuing journey. Visitors can expect an eclectic range of works using humble materials and sharp commentary—ranging from a caricature of global political leadership and dreamy depictions of southern pools, to immersive installations that explore themes like conspiracy, currency, and identity.
