For the first time in Greece, a Spanish-language stand-up comedy show is hitting the stage! The Athens English Comedy Club, known for bringing international comedy to the Greek capital, is expanding its reach with an exciting Spanish-speaking event on Saturday, March 29.

Comedy fans can expect a night of laughter with Chadmax (Mexico) and Gonzalo Madueño (Peru), two rising stars in the Latin American comedy scene. The show is part of their 2025 European tour, which has taken them to multiple countries across the continent.

A Trailblazing Moment for Comedy in Athens

Founded in 2019, the Athens English Comedy Club has established itself as the go-to venue for stand-up in English. Now, the club is embracing new languages, kicking things off with this landmark Spanish-language performance at the ELIART Theater.

Both Chadmax and Madueño are key figures in the Spanish-speaking comedy scene in Germany and beyond. Their performances blend cultural observations, personal anecdotes, and sharp humor, promising an unforgettable night for Spanish-speaking audiences in Athens.

A veteran of the stage, Chadmax has been performing stand-up since 2013, sharing the mic with some of Latin America’s most renowned comedians, including Franco Escamilla, La Cotorrisa, and Alex Fernández. He is a leading force behind the expansion of Spanish-language comedy in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, and beyond.

Chadmax will present material from his hit show “Un Gordito Violento”, a hilarious exploration of Latin American stereotypes, cultural quirks, and the perception of Latinos as “violent”. He is also a stand-up comedy teacher and—rumor has it—an excellent cumbia dancer, though whether he’ll showcase his moves on stage remains to be seen!

Gonzalo Madueño (Peru)

Gonzalo Madueño has built a reputation as one of the most promising Spanish-language comedians in Europe. A key member of The Comedy Fire collective, he won the 2023 Rookie of the Year Award at the Fuego de la Comedia Awards and recently debuted his acclaimed special, “Renuncio”, which he is now bringing to Athens.

Madueño’s comedy combines intelligent humor, impeccable technique, and razor-sharp delivery, offering a fresh and dynamic perspective.

With a history of hosting over 130 comedians from 29 countries, the Athens English Comedy Club is once again making history by opening the door to Spanish-language stand-up in Greece.
