Athens Photo Festival 2024 Opens June 6 at Benaki Museum

International and Greek photographers present their investigative and critical perspectives on social and political issues at the Athens Photo Festival 2024, held at the Benaki Museum from June 6-28

The Athens Photo Festival 2024 (APhF:24) launches today, June 6, at 8:00 pm at the Benaki Museum, heralding a major international event for photography and visual arts in Greece, running until July 28.

The main exhibition of APhF:24, a large-scale production curated by Manolis Moresopoulos with assistant curator Marilia Fotopoulou, spans 3,000 square meters of the Benaki Museum’s exhibition space. Featuring 72 artists from 28 countries, the exhibition invites audiences to explore contemporary photography through conceptual and participative projects, documentary photography, photo-based installations, publications, and multimedia works.

In addition, the Hellenic Centre for Photography presents a section titled “Young Greek Photographers,” which includes presentations, educational programs, networking activities, and parallel events aimed at supporting emerging photographic talent.

Admission is free for the festival’s opening at 8 pm. On all other days, tickets can be purchased online or at the museum. The festival is open from 10 am to 6 pm on Thursdays and Sundays, and from 10 am to 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
